For example, why are you reading this article? I can logically infer that it is because you want to experience change and become a better thinker. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Or maybe you want to experience more, such as all of these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/benefits-of-critical-thinking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">11 benefits of critical thinking<\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Analogy or analogical reasoning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involves making comparisons based on established examples or models.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, we know that nearly every memory champion openly admits that they have normal memory that doesn\u2019t work especially well without using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/mnemonic-devices\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mnemonic devices<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. By analogy, we can infer that any person with average memory abilities can become a memory champion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How long should you study logic? By thinking through consequences in advance, you save yourself a lot of trouble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: You can perform game theory on the past as well by thinking through what would have happened had people acted differently. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/what-is-philosophy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">philosophical approach<\/a> is called working through the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">counterfactuals<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of a historical situation and can be used on your personal life and large groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people think that game theory has limited value for everyday life, but I don\u2019t think they\u2019re being\u2026 logical about that. In fact, it&#8217;s probably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/how-to-improve-critical-thinking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the approach that has improved my critical thinking the fastest<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, it\u2019s so helpful, it is \u201cillogical\u201d to forget not to use it when making decisions. Zen turns language against itself to help us experience mental relief from the problems we think so hard about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/best-critical-thinking-books\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best critical thinking books<\/a> that situates the topic in the larger realm of computational thinking for both humans and machines is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">G\u00f6del Escher Bach<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. For a collection of koans to explore, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gateless Gate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Mumon is an interesting source.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mention the opposite of logic not only because it is logical to do so. To fully experience the rewards of logical thinking, you need to be able to step outside of thinking altogether.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/philosophical-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Questioning deeply<\/a> is not enough. We need to question the process of questioning itself as a lifelong learning habit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So on that note, let the questioning begin.
